You will support people through some of the hardest times in their lives, with a calm, respectful approach.
About the role
In this role, you will assess mental health needs, give medicines, lead therapeutic conversations and help keep people and the unit safe.
Key responsibilities
- Assess mental state and risk, and update care plans
- Give medicines and watch for side effects
- Build therapeutic relationships through one-to-one time
- Use de-escalation skills to keep everyone safe
- Work with psychiatrists, social workers and families
Requirements and qualifications
- An active nursing licence or registration for this country
- Mental health or psychiatric nursing experience
- Training in de-escalation and safe holding, or willingness to complete it
- Strong, respectful communication
- Careful, accurate documentation
Nice to have
- A mental health nursing qualification or certification
- Community or crisis team experience
- Experience with group sessions
