Pinecrest Community Hospital has an opening for the role of Licensed Practical Nurse, Med-Surg in Austin, Texas. This is a full-time role for experienced nurses.
You will care for adult patients before and after surgery and with medical conditions, on a busy and varied ward.
About the role
In this role, you will look after a group of adult patients, give medicines, manage wounds and drains and plan safe discharges with the wider team.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and care for a group of adult patients each shift
- Give medicines and monitor how patients respond
- Manage wounds, drains, IV lines and post-operative care
- Plan discharges with doctors, therapists and families
- Document care and hand over clearly at the end of each shift
Requirements and qualifications
- An active nursing licence or registration for this country
- Current BLS or the local equivalent
- Hospital ward or clinical placement experience
- Good organisation when caring for several patients
- Clear communication with patients and the team
Nice to have
- Experience on a surgical or step-down unit
- IV cannulation or phlebotomy skills
- Interest in precepting students
