A nursing resume should show your licence, your clinical experience and the kind of patients you have cared for, in a way that is quick to read.

What to include

  • Your licence or registration type and where it is valid
  • Certifications such as BLS, ACLS or PALS, with expiry dates
  • Each role with the unit type, number of beds and typical patient ratio
  • Results, such as audits you helped improve or students you precepted
  • Clinical placements, if you are a new graduate

Pro Tip: Many hospitals use applicant tracking systems. Use the same words as the job post for your specialty and certifications.

In the UK, NHS jobs usually ask for a supporting statement as well as your work history. Link your examples to the person specification.
